Hurricanes running back Jordan Lyle was arrested in August on charges of fleeing police and reckless driving.
On Wednesday, the state attorney's office chose to not charge Lyle with fleeing police, according to Broward County court records and confirmed by defense lawyer Elias Hilal.
Lyle is now facing one count of reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor.
Lyle was estimated to be driving 130 mph on July 10, according to a probable cause affidavit released by the Sunrise Police Department.
Lyle's felony charge being dropped was first reported by Andy Slater.
Lyle did not play in the Hurricanes' season-opening victory against Stanford.
When asked about Lyle's status on Monday, Miami coach Mario Cristobal said the process was "still running (its) course."
Lyle had a strong freshman season in 2024, rushing for 400 yards with four touchdowns. He dealt with injuries as a sophomore in 2025, which limited his production on the field.
A UM spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on whether Lyle would be available for Miami's game against Florida A&M on Thursday.
