Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers worked together with the Green Bay Packers for 13 seasons. The Pittsburgh Steelers ' new head coach would like the four-time Associated Press MVP to lead his offense once more.
"Definitely. I don't see why you wouldn't," McCarthy said Tuesday during his introductory press conference. "I think just like anything, knowing Aaron long enough, going through seasons, I think when players — to see Mel Blount here — when guys are up in that stage of their career, they need to step away and decompress. I think that's very important. The game is so emotional. What these men commit to and they put into it, I think that time away is important.
"I have spoken to Aaron, so that's really where we are there."
McCarthy added that he watched most of the Steelers' games on television and thought Aaron was "a great asset to the team."

He got glowing reviews from his teammates after the season, including DK Metcalf , who said he'd like the future Pro Football Hall of Famer back in black and gold next season.
Near the end of his New York Jets tenure, Rodgers told SNY's Connor Hughes that "wherever Mike McCarthy ends up" would be a potential landing spot for him. Rodgers talked plenty about how instrumental Mike Tomlin was in his choice to play in Pittsburgh .
