- Steelers Insider Predicts Disappointing Trade Deadline
The Pittsburgh Steelers have played at a high level early in the season, as they hold a 6-2 record and are atop the AFC North.
The Steelers are in position to win the division for the second straight season, but they have a tough division with the Cincinnati Bengals , Baltimore Ravens , and Cleveland Browns . If Pittsburgh wants to win the division and compete for a Super Bowl, they should be active at the trade deadline.
However, Steelers insider Gerry Dulac stated that they are not expected to make a trade ahead of the deadline. If that is the case, it's a shocking decision from the front office, as they have a chance of contending for a Super Bowl, but will need another piece or two.
Pittsburgh has 42-year-old Aaron Rodgers as their quarterback in his final season in the NFL. Rodgers has played well, completing 60.8 percent of his passes for 1,871 yards, 13 touchdowns, and six interceptions.
The four-time MVP isn't in his prime anymore, but he is still playing well and could help the Steelers make a deep playoff run. Their run game has been strong, led by Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle.
Warren is in the Offensive Player of the Year race, as he's rushed for 704 yards and two touchdowns on 119 carries (5.9 yards per carry) along with 25 receptions for 294 yards and a touchdown.

Dowdle has been a productive secondary running back, rushing for 174 yards and a touchdown on 46 carries while catching 13 passes for 82 yards.
The strong run game can be the catalyst for Pittsburgh's offense, but they could use another receiver. Michael Pittman Jr. and Roman Wilson are out with injuries, and star wideout DK Metcalf is having a rough season.
Metcalf has 33 receptions for 378 yards and a touchdown, but has had multiple drops. The 28-year-old dropped a deep pass from Rodgers on Sunday in what would've been a big gain, but it turned into an interception as he tipped the ball up.
It's clear that the Steelers need to add another weapon on the outside and could pursue names like Josh Downs and Garrett Wilson.
Pittsburgh must be aggressive, as Rodgers is in his final year and they may not have a quarterback capable of leading them on a deep run in 2027. If the Steelers are able to acquire another receiver, it will give them a shot at earning the top seed in the AFC and potentially earning a first-round bye in the playoffs.
