The Pittsburgh Steelers don't seem to be interested in adding former top 5 pick Anthony Richardson.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting on quarterback Aaron Rodgers to make a decision about whether he plans to play in 2026. However, they don't seem to be interested in finding a backup plan, either.
According to Stephen Holder of ESPN , there is no deal imminent for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson , and if there is a team to monitor, it's the Green Bay Packers .
Richardson, the No. 4 overall pick in the in the 2023 NFL Draft, was given permission to seek a trade given his uncertain future in Indianapolis.
The 23-year-old has not lived up to expectations, going 8-7 as a starter while throwing for just 2,400 yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions over the past three years.
He is also one of the least-accurate quarterbacks in recent NFL history with only four players having a worse career completion percentage since 2000.
However, Richardson still has all of the physical tools to be successful at the next level, standing at 6-foot-4, 244 pounds. He's already put his dual-threat ability on display, too, rushing for 634 yards and 10 touchdowns during the span.

It's safe to assume Richardson will likely not be back with the Colts in 2026, but it also looks like it won't be with the Steelers, despite their revolving door of quarterbacks following Ben Roethlisberger 's retirement at the end of the 2021 season.
In fact, if Rodgers does decide to hang up his cleats for good, recent signs have been pointing toward Pittsburgh going with another veteran quarterback in Kirk Cousins instead.
That would certainly be a tough sell to many fans, especially with an incredible athlete in Richardson being available for the taking.
