- Steelers Can Only Hope Eagles Make Insane Trade Deadline Decision on WR

There are a lot of question marks around the Philadelphia Eagles moving on from guys. The idea of trading somebody like Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun has come up multiple times, though it seems more likely the Eagles will trade players who aren't under contract after this season or don't fit their long-term plans.
Guys like Barkley and Baun are exactly that, and one could argue DeVonta Smith is more important than all of them.
After moving on from A.J. Brown this past offseason in a deal with the New England Patriots, the idea of trading another star receiver in Smith doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.
Unless the Eagles know that they have no plans to contend in the near future, there's absolutely no way they could look at what they've done over the past couple of years and think that it'd be a wise decision to move on from Smith, despite whatever is going on this year.
However, if they decide to do so, the Pittsburgh Steelers would definitely be a team that needs to make a phone call. It was recently floated by one writer, though he also admitted that it isn't a rumor or anything, but more so just how great of a fit it would be for Pittsburgh.
"This one isn't so much about trade rumors swirling, it's more about how perfect this addition would be for the Steelers. The 27-year-old DeVonta Smith has been a productive and playmaking receiver since he entered the league. The Eagles are in a difficult spot, and they've already moved on from a few key pieces.
"What makes Smith so enticing is twofold. The first is how he would complement Rodgers and open up the passing game. His speed, his ability to create separation and his extensive route tree would be a gift to Rodgers and the offense," Jacob Punutri wrote .
Smith in an offense with Aaron Rodgers would be absolutely ridiculous if Rodgers can find a way to at least roll the clock back a bit. He's been somewhat decent this year, throwing for 1,699 yards, 13 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
He's also doing that with a below-average receiving corps, so we have to give the 42-year-old Rodgers a ton of credit.
As for why Smith would fit, Rodgers has shown in the past that he's willing to target his top option at any moment.
Smith would instantly step in as that guy, allowing Rodgers to build on the connections he's had with some of the best wide receivers in the NFL throughout his career with the Green Bay Packers and New York Jets before this stop in Pittsburgh.
