One of the Pittsburgh Steelers rookies has already changed his jersey number.
Pittsburgh Steelers 2026 fourth-round pick Kaden Wetjen shocked the fanbase when he picked to wear the No. 42, which is quite an uncommon number for a wide receiver. However, he quickly revealed that he was not planning to stick with the number throughout his rookie year.
"Don't worry folks, we will have a new number for the [season]," Wetjen wrote on Instagram .
Wetjen has officially kept that promise, sharing that he has switched to No. 10, which was last worn by wide receiver Roman Wilson , who has since switched to No. 14.
"#10 now," he commented on Instagram.
Numbers have become a bigger part of a player's identity in today's NFL, especially with the league loosening its number restrictions in recent years. Rookies often have to wait their turn, negotiate with veterans or even pay a significant price to get the number they wore in college.
At Iowa, Wetjen wore No. 21, a number that is presently assigned to veteran running back Travis Homer.

Only time will tell if Wetjen will stick with No. 10 or try to pry No. 21 away from Homer, but regardless, Steelers fans should expect to see Wetjen on the field a lot, especially on special teams.
Wetjen arrives in Pittsburgh as one of the most accomplished return specialists in recent college football history.
During his time at Iowa, he totaled over 1,200 career return yards and scored six return touchdowns, consistently flipping field position and providing instant momentum for the Hawkeyes. His explosiveness in the return game also earned him one of the highest special teams evaluations in the country, highlighted by a PFF return grade of 95.0, one of the highest ever recorded by the outlet for a return specialist.
