Steelers Sign Standout Rookie From ACC Before Training Camp
With Jalen Ramsey , Joey Porter Jr. , DeShon Elliot and Jaquan Brisker in the secondary, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a concerted effort to go with a veteran secondary for the upcoming season as the team goes all-in for a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers .
The Steelers added a standout from the ACC on Thursday to add to the 90-man roster before training camp starts in July.
Per a news release by the Steelers, the team signed defensive back Ahmari Harvey on Thursday. In a corresponding move, Pittsburgh released defensive end K.J. Henry.
"The Steelers signed defensive back Ahmari Harvey. Harvey originally signed with the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL Draft. He played college football at Georgia Tech for four seasons (2022-25), after transferring from Auburn (2021).
"While at Georgia Tech he appeared in 43 games and recorded 121 tackles, including 98 solo stops. Harvey also added 12 passes defensed, five and a half tackles for a loss, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one sack."

Harvey will join rookies Daylen Everette (third-round pick) and Robert Spears-Jennings (seventh-round pick) in the secondary during training camp.
During his final season with Georgia Tech, Harvey said he believed he was getting better in his man-to-man coverage. He wanted to improve his game before going pro.
"I feel like I'm playing way better man-to-man coverage this year. I can say that," Harvey said , via Sports Illustrated.
"My discipline, on-snap discipline, off-the-ball discipline has gotten better. That jump, I need to take it. I need to make some more plays, and I will."
As an undrafted free agent, Harvey will face an uphill battle to make the 53-man roster on the Steelers for the regular season. After spending time with the Broncos this spring, he's behind in defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's scheme for the defense.
But he'll come to camp ready to prove Denver made a mistake releasing him before the summer.
Harvey will have to make notable plays in preseason on defense and special teams just to have a chance to make the practice squad this fall.
