The Pittsburgh Steelers couldn't overcome a horrific start to the game, as the Miami Dolphins scored 13 points on their first three drives and held on for a 16-10 victory on Oct. 23, 2022.
Kenny Pickett was intercepted twice in the game's final three minutes as the Steelers were trying to come back from the early deficit. The last one came with 18 seconds left at the goal line to seal the Miami victory.
George Pickens scored the lone Steelers touchdown. Raheem Mostert scored on a pass from Tua Tagovailoa for Miami.

This will be the 30th meeting all-time between the Steelers and Dolphins, and the series has been razor-tight, with the Steelers owning 15 victories and Dolphins 14. The Dolphins have won three of the last five meetings, upsetting a trend that had Pittsburgh as the dominate team, wining five in a row from 2004 to 2010.
The Steelers have been dominant in Pittsburgh, winning nine of 14 contests in the Steel City, and they have won four of the five games played at Heinz Field.
In terms of cold weather games between the teams, Miami won the 1972 AFC Championship game on Dec. 31, and also beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh in a snowstorm in 2013. The Steelers have won the only January meeting between the teams — a Wild Card game at the end of the 2016 season — and also won December contests in 1988 and 1979.
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick runs out for a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 24, 2024. — Ed Thompson / Steelers Now
Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick spent six seasons with the Steelers after coming over from the Dolphins in 2019 mid-year trade. Fitzpatrick played and started in 88 games for Pittsburgh, recording 516 tackles, six tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, 45 passes defended, 18 interceptions, and four defensive touchdowns. The Steelers traded Fitzpatrick back to the Dolphins this offseason in exchange for Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith.
Former Steelers first-round draft pick, cornerback Artie Burns , is on the Miami injured reserve list. Burns spent four seasons in Pittsburgh, starting 32 games. He spent the last three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks , signed with his hometown Dolphins this offseason, and tore his ACL on the first day of training camp.
Former starting Steelers right guard James Daniels is also on the Dolphins injured list. Daniels signed with Miami as a free agent this offseason, but has been out since Sept. 9 with a pectoral injury.
Pittsburgh native and Pitt and Central Catholic alum Dan Marino is the special advisor to the vice chairman, president and CEO for the Dolphins. Marino played quarterback for the Dolphins from 1983-1999.
Dolphins wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. is the son of former Steelers wide receiver Cedrick Wilson.
Starting outside linebacker Chop Robinson is a Penn State alum. Cornerback Rasul Douglas and offensive lineman Yodny Cajuste are West Virginia alumni.
