PITTSBURGH — Michael Pittman Jr. is hoping to get back on the field as soon as he can for the Pittsburgh Steelers. It just isn't clear yet when that will be.
"That's what it was before, yeah," Pittman said Monday morning when asked if the injury he's dealing with is plantar fasciitis. "And then it kinda morphed into something else."
Surgery, he added, isn't an option, because it wouldn't fix the issue.
Pittman admitted that being out has been tough for him, but he can only focus on his rehab for now. He got back to running last week, mixing it up on the treadmill and in cleats outside. He said he doesn't have a timeframe for his return, but "it'd be great to be back after (the) bye week, which is what I'd like, but I can't go out there if I'm not effective."
"It's been tough, the most injuries I've had to deal with in my seven years," Pittman said. "It definitely sucks to come to a new team and then be riddled with injuries, so trying to get back out there as fast as possible and prove to this team that I came here to better it and not just sit on the sideline."
With injuries at receiver, the Steelers have
"I think that definitely has something to do with the amount of guys that we have down — Ben (Skowronek), me, Rome (Wilson)," Pittman said. "So probably a lot more 12 (personnel) just naturally. And we've got two tight ends who are very talented."
