FOXBOROUGH — Stefon Diggs made a lucrative catch in the third quarter of Sunday’s season finale.
The veteran wideout snared a 34-yard reception from Drake Maye, putting him over 1,000 yards on the season. With the catch, Diggs became the first Patriots pass catcher to hit the 1,000-yard milestone since Julian Edelman in 2019.
It was a productive grab for Diggs’ bank account too, as the wideout had a $500,000 incentive for hitting the 1,000-yard mark. On Friday, he was diplomatic when asked about potentially achieving the milestone.
“It’s a prayer and a hope,” Diggs said. “If it does happen, I’m always happy. I’m thankful because it’s not just my success. It’s a lot of guys out there. A lot of guys blocking, the guy throwing the ball, Rhamondre (Stevenson), TreVeyon (Henderson) protecting him. So fingers crossed it happens. If it doesn’t, I won’t cry in the corner. But if it does, I might shed a tear of joy.”
For Diggs, 32, it’s the seventh time in his career hitting 1,000 yards.
