Stephen Curry will undoubtedly go down as one of the most influential players in NBA history. The Golden State Warriors guard changed the game of basketball with his elite 3-point shooting, winning four championships and multiple MVPs along the way as well.
However, this did not mean that Curry never endured his share of struggles. Standing close to 6'3", the Davidson product was never the ideal template when it came to making it big in the NBA, given his limited physical attributes. Making matters worse were his early ankle issues.
Regardless, Steph did not let the outside noise and murmurs deter him. By identifying his strengths, he created a niche and the rest is history. Currently on the last leg of his prime, Curry recently opened up to hip-hop legend Snoop Dogg about what kept him going throughout.
"I think when you win and as much as we have been blessed to experience, the down years and the struggle remind you of how hard it is to get to the top. So that's what brings the best out of you, that's what we enjoy the most, you know that chase, putting it in together, figuring out what this team needs to do to win. It brings you back every year to work as hard as you can to get it done, whether it happens or not, you give it everything you got," Curry told Snoop Dogg, who had donned the reporter hat for NBC lately.
Ever since winning his fourth chip in 2022, the last couple of seasons have been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride for Steph, who, regardless, continues to play at a high level.
The dynasty is coming to an end
After a glorious run between 2015 and 2022, things have surely slowed down for the Dubs, who have suffered multiple setbacks. It all began with the punching incident between Draymond Green and Jordan Poole , followed by Dray's countless suspensions and Klay Thompson 's decision to take his talents to the Dallas Mavericks .
Though Curry continued to put on spectacles at regular intervals, it was not enough to get the Warriors past the second round. The roster's lack of size, coupled with Steve Kerr's questionable coaching lately, has only made matters worse for the fans and management.
The Chef remains their only ray of hope, who is about to turn 38 this year. As Steph looks to galvanize his troops, it is high time the Joe Lacob management navigates its way through this lull. The two-time MVP most certainly deserves a legitimate shot at his fifth title as he continues to attain new milestones.
What's next?
Struggling to maintain the .500 mark, the Warriors are likely to once again land up in a play-in situation. The addition of Jimmy Butler showed a lot of promise initially, but things haven't gone according to plan in the current 2025-26 season, at least so far.
Adding to it are Draymond's inconsistent play and altercations with officials. Not to mention the uncertainty surrounding Jonathan Kuminga 's future with the team. Many believe the only chance Curry can make a run for his fifth ring as of today is if Golden State acquires Giannis Antetokounmpo , whose days with the Milwaukee Bucks are coming to an end.
With not much time remaining before the trade deadline, one can expect the Warriors to pull some strings, especially since they also have one of the most passionate owners in Joe Lacob, who wants to win at any cost.
