The Mike Trout era is not over. The superstar hitter for the Los Angeles Angels is still ballin' out in Southern California. He's off to a great season, and if he can stay healthy, he could produce one of the better seasons of his career. At 34 years old, one of the best players of the latest generation still has plenty of time to win not only his first World Series, but his first playoff game.
Both Trout and Aaron Judge smashed home runs in the game on Monday night.
On ESPN's First Take on Tuesday, Stephen A. Smith asked a question many have been asking for almost 10 years now. "Can you ( Mike Trout ) demand a trade?"
"Can we call Mike Trout out?" Smith said. "This is one of the greatest talents we have ever seen in the history of baseball. Yo Mike Trout, we love you, man. We can't get enough of watching you. Can you demand a trade?"
"At some point, the Angels aren't doing anything for you. Shohei Ohtani came after him and left before him, and the man has two World Series championships. Winning matters. You are always going to get the money; you are Mike Trout. Can you get to some place where we can see you play in October? Because it ain't going to be with the Angels."
Smith went off on Trout and his decisions to stay in Los Angeles because he loves playing for the team. Smith, just like many fans do (even some Angels fans), wants to see Trout see success when it matters. The baseball gods have not been kind to him as of late, but nobody in sports deserves to win a championship more than Trout.
