Quentin Lake's Pro Bowl case picked up a loud endorsement Tuesday. Sharing the team's numbers on the Rams safety through eight weeks, TheRams.com senior staff writer Stu Jackson wrote that Lake is "having a Pro Bowl-caliber year, at minimum," on X . It's a fair read on one of the steadiest pieces of a Rams team that just climbed back to 4-4 .
The numbers behind it are strong. Among safeties, Lake ranks first in passes defended (8) and incompletions as the primary defender (17), is tied for second in interceptions (3), is second in hurries (5) and is tied for 11th in tackles (50), according to Rams PR , citing TruMedia. He has done it as the Rams' most reliable last line of defense, on a unit that kept the Chargers out of the end zone entirely on Sunday.
How Quentin Lake keeps showing up

Sunday's 24-9 win over the winless Chargers was a good example. Lake played all 61 defensive snaps, picked off a pass and allowed three catches for 30 yards on four targets, a 56.3 passer rating against, according to PFF. He lined up 27 snaps at free safety, 23 in the box and 10 in the slot.
That flexibility matters because the rest of the secondary keeps shifting. Trent McDuffie has been managing a back injury , Jaylen Watson aggravated his shoulder again and the other safeties had a rougher afternoon. Kamren Kinchens allowed 64 yards on two targets, including a 54-yarder, and Kamren Curl gave up all three passes thrown his way, per PFF. Lake was the constant.
Pro Bowl voting tends to follow interceptions and name recognition, and the second one is still catching up for Lake. Sunday's game against Washington and Jayden Daniels, a quarterback who forces a safety to play the box, the slot and the deep middle on the same drive, is another chance to add to the résumé. Help could also be coming up front, with the Rams opening Myles Garrett's practice window , and more pressure on the quarterback usually means more passes for Lake to get his hands on.
