In a recent report , journalist Graeme Bailey mentioned that Sunderland have been given an opportunity to sign AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek. It has been claimed that the Black Cats are set to rival Tottenham Hotspur, Coventry City, Newcastle United, Everton, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, and Fulham in the race to sign the English talent next year.
Loftus-Cheek served as an important member of AC Milan's squad last season when he put in a string of decent performances for them in Serie A. The 30-year-old scored three goals and earned one assist in 32 matches for the Milan outfit in the previous campaign across all fronts.
The English sensation is currently one of the most talented central midfielders in Serie A . Hence, Sunderland should consider bringing him back to England in 2027.
His current contract at San Siro will expire next summer, which could give the Black Cats a chance to sign him on the cheap this winter or on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.

Loftus-Cheek is a good tackler of the ball and can read the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a tidy passer as well from midfield.
The English talent can contribute by scoring and creating a few important goals for his side. Loftus-Cheek is primarily a box-to-box midfielder but can also function as a defensive midfielder or play in the number ten position if asked to do so. He is already quite familiar with the Premier League and won't take any time to settle into life at the Stadium of Light.
We can expect Loftus-Cheek to bring more quality and depth to Sunderland head coach Regis Le Bris' midfield. He has what it takes to fight for regular first-team football at the Wearside club.
At 30, Loftus-Cheek is still in his prime and would be a good signing for the Black Cats in the short term. Thus, Le Bris would be wise to go all out to get him on board this January or next summer.
