The Horned Frogs had the schedule to do big things last season, but they tripped up in key moments and missed out on being in the Big 12 Championship mix.
This year's slate isn't going to be a breeze, but they should have the team to be up to the task.

The Good
If North Carolina isn't all that great, there's a chance to get off to a huge start with the next three games - six of the next seven - against teams that didn't go to a bowl game last year. There aren't two road games in a row.
The Bad
The season starts out in Dublin, Ireland. That's been a deathblow of a game for the losers over the last few years - it killed Kansas State's season - and it throws everything off a bit. There might only be four other road games, but two of them are at Texas Tech and Arizona.
What Big 12 Teams TCU Will Miss
Arizona State, Cincinnati, Colorado, Houston, Iowa State, Oklahoma State. Missing the Sun Devils is terrific, but that's it for the breaks. Not playing Houston isn't bad, but you'd like to miss BYU and Utah - at least those are at home.
TCU's Best and Worst Case Scenarios in 2026
Best Case: It's all about BYU
The Horned Frogs get by North Carolina for a second year in a row to open the season, and roll through the start with wins over UCF and Baylor on the road. If they do that, the BYU game should be the only thing standing in the way of an 8-0 start before going to Arizona.
Worst Case: The Ireland trip screws things up
Again, the date in Ireland has been a killer for the loser. Worst case scenario, TCU loses to the Tar Heels, and that's it. They lose the road games at Texas Tech and Arizona, and slip against a BYU and somewhere else in Fort Worth.

Games That Will Decide TCU's Season
1. Nov. 28, at Texas Tech.It would be nice if this game doesn't matter - it's the regular season finale - but it would be massive to pull this off.
2. Aug. 29, vs North Carolina (in Dublin). To keep hammering this home, this is the tone-setter of tone-setters. Lose, and there might not be much of a reason to get back on the plane.
3. Sept. 26, at UCF.Lose the Big 12 opener, and there's zero margin for error the rest of the way with a whole slew of tough games still to deal with.
