TCU football did not show much in The Emerald Isle during its Dublin clash with North Carolina, but an active Jordan Dwyer could have potentially made the difference in the scoreboard. The Horned Frogs were hoping that the two-week break would help him get healthy for Saturday night's home opener versus Grambling State, but the news remains the same. The redshirt senior wide receiver is expected to miss the game with a foot injury, per ESPN's Pete Thamel.
TCU quarterback Jaden Craig struggled to move the ball downfield against the Tar Heels (5.5 yards gained per pass attempt), and while he should fare better versus the Tigers and inside Amon G. Carter Stadium, this offense will still be well below full strength. Dwyer recorded 54 receptions for 730 yards and seven touchdowns last season, ranking second on the team in all three categories behind All-Big 12 selection Eric McAlister.
Craig spent the last few years at Harvard, so it could help to have continuity in the passing attack. Ideally, Dwyer will be ready for action once conference play begins on Sept. 26.

The Idaho transfer registered nine catches for 136 yards and a TD vs. North Carolina last year, making his Horned Frogs debut in epic fashion. There is no telling if he would have been able to post a similar stat line with a new QB and against an obviously improved defense, but fans certainly wanted to see him try. They will have to remain patient.
TCU football should have plenty of hard feelings to work out after an unpleasant trip to Ireland. Sonny Dykes' squad faces Grambling on Saturday in Fort Worth, Texas, beginning at 8 p.m. ET .
