Before the Kansas City Royals played their first home game of the season, they took some time to remember Terrance Gore .
Gore, a speedy outfielder, was a 2015 World Series champion with the Royals. He died suddenly in February at just 34 years old.
The Royals welcomed his family to Kauffman Stadium on Monday, and executive vice president J.J. Picollo welcomed Gore's wife and three children onto the field.
The ceremony also featured Gore's oldest kid, Zane, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.

And if the fans in Kansas City weren't already moved by the memory of Gore, what Zane did next sure brought the emotions.
He strolled confidently out to the mound wearing a No. 0 Royals jersey -- his father's number -- and looked in toward home plate, where Royals legend (and Gore's teammate) Alex Gordon crouched to receive the pitch.
Throwing the entire 60 feet, 6 inches, Zane wound and fired, left-handed.
An absolutely perfect strike.
It could not have been scripted any better.
The Royals broadcast, before it went to commercial, remarked that "you can see a little bit of Terrance in Zane's face."
Terrance was surely looking down on Zane's ceremonial debut on a big league mound. Zane delivered.
