Ahead of a divisional round clash in Foxborough , the Texans were missing their No. 1 wide receiver on the practice field again on Thursday, per reporters in Houston.
Nico Collins , who suffered a concussion in Monday’s wild card win over the Steelers , hasn’t been able to practice since. Thursday’s absence puts Collins’ status in jeopardy for this weekend, as players must clear the NFL’s five-phase protocol to return to play.
A back-to-back Pro Bowler, Collins caught 71 passes for 1,117 yards and six touchdowns in the regular season. The veteran had almost twice as many targets (120) as Jayden Higgins (68), who was C.J. Stroud ’s second most targeted wide receiver this season.
“He’s probably their best player on offense,” Patriots cornerback Carlton Davis said. “Obviously he’s an impactful player. We’ll see if he plays.”
If not, Stroud will be forced to rely on Higgins, Christian Kirk , Jaylin Noel , and Xavier Hutchinson at wideout, none of whom hit the 600-yard mark in 2025.
