- Texas A&M junior forward plans to enter transfer portal
Texas A&M head coach Joni Taylor finds herself at a pivotal moment in her tenure in College Station. Now four seasons into her time leading the Aggies, Taylor has missed the NCAA Tournament in back‑to‑back years despite a strong close to the 2025–26 regular season. A bounce‑back campaign in 2026–27 is essential and the challenge just became even steeper.
On Monday morning, Kay Naegeli of TexAgs reported that junior forward Fatmata Janneh plans to enter the transfer portal with a do‑not‑contact tag. That designation typically signals that a player already has a destination in mind, though it still leaves the door cracked for a potential return to Texas A&M.

Either way, it's news Taylor did not want to hear from one of her most productive players. Janneh was the Aggies' second‑leading scorer this season and came close to averaging a double‑double, posting 11.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. She led the team with 261 total rebounds and added valuable floor spacing by shooting 33% from three‑point range. Losing that level of production, especially entering such a crucial season, would be a significant blow.
