The Detroit Tigers are a surprising postseason contender despite trading ace Tarik Skubal before the deadline . One player who could certainly give Detroit a boost down the stretch of the season is outfielder Kerry Carpenter — who is currently injured. Carpenter is battling left foot plantar fasciitis and his expected return date is currently unknown. According to MLB.com, the outfielder is " completing a return-to-play hitting , running and defensive progression."
While Carpenter's return date is uncertain, it seems as if he is currently taking a step forward. Further updates on his injury status should be provided soon. We will monitor and provide updates as they are made available.
Carpenter, 28, struggled before landing on the injured list following a strong 2025 campaign. He hit .252 to go along with a .788 OPS and 26 home runs a season ago. Through 81 games played this season, however, Carpenter has hit just .208 with a .692 OPS. Still, he has 13 home runs and provides power from the left side of the plate.
