The Detroit Tigers endured a frightening moment Thursday as Parker Meadows suffered a serious injury during a collision with teammate Riley Greene in a game vs. the Minnesota Twins . The incident overshadowed another tough loss for the club as they dropped their fifth straight game in a row.
Meadows exited in the eighth inning after a violent collision in left-center field during a 3–1 loss to the Twins, further compounding the Tigers' early-season struggles.
Both outfielders charged toward a line drive, converging at full speed. Greene made the catch, but the two collided head-to-head, leaving Meadows down on the field as concern quickly spread throughout the stadium.
Medical staff rushed out to attend to Meadows, who remained on the ground for several minutes. He was carted off and transported for further evaluation. Greene also went down briefly after the impact but stayed in the game.
The Talkin' Baseball show shared video of the sequence on X, formerly Twitter, showcasing the severity of the collision.

Initial reports confirmed Meadows suffered a concussion along with mouth injuries from the impact. The injury is expected to result in a stint on the injured list, leaving the Tigers without a significant defensive presence.
The collision also brings attention to the challenges of communication in the outfield, particularly in high-traffic areas where split-second decisions can lead to dangerous outcomes. Detroit may need to adjust its defensive approach moving forward.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 4–9 on the season. They now sit at the bottom of the AL Central. Combined with a five-game losing streak, the moment reflects a difficult stretch for the club.
Ultimately, while Greene recorded the out, the cost proved significant. The Tigers now await further updates on Meadows while attempting to stabilize both their roster and overall trajectory.
