The Minnesota Timberwolves received bad news during Game 4 of their opening round playoff series against the Denver Nuggets when it was revealed that Donte DiVincenzo had suffered a torn Achilles tendon, as per Shams Charania of ESPN.
The injury effectively ends Donte DiVincenzo's season and leaves the Timberwolves without one of their top perimeter options as their playoff series against the Nuggets continues following Game 4.
The injury was suffered early in the first quarter of Game 4 when DiVincenzo landed awkwardly after going up for a shot . He fell to the floor and signaled for assistance from the team's staff. He was able to walk on his own but made for the locker room and did not return to the game.
The Timberwolves are also awaiting a firm update on franchise player Anthony Edwards who suffered a knee injury in the first half of the game. He was also ultimately ruled out due to a knee injury, but no prognosis was made.
The Wolves had come into Game 4 with a lot of momentum having taken a 2-1 lead in the series after stealing a game on the Nuggets home court. But now they face the prospect of having to win the series without two key players in the lineup. As of publication, the Timberwolves held a slim lead late in the fourth quarter of Game 4.
Through the Timberwolves' first three playoff games, DiVincenzo had been averaging 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals with splits of 51.6 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent shooting from the 3-point line.
