The Minnesota Timberwolves are bringing back veteran guard Mike Conley after trading him earlier this month.
Conley was moved before the trade deadline by the Timberwolves. Now, he returns on a deal for the rest of the season.
NBA analyst Michael Scotto reported on X that Minnesota signed Conley for the remainder of the year.
"The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed Mike Conley to a deal for the rest of the season, league sources told @hoopshype." Scotto wrote.
In four combined seasons with the Timberwolves, Conley has averaged 9.2 points while shooting 41.3 percent from three-point range, along with 4.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
Conley's return follows back-to-back moves in just a span of less than a month. Minnesota first traded him and a 2026 first-round pick swap to the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 3 in a three-team deal.
Later, the Bulls moved Conley to the Charlotte Hornets , the very next day. But he was waived on Feb. 5 by Hornets. And now, because he was traded twice before being released, league rules allowed Minnesota to re-sign him.
This move also carries a financial impact of Timberwolves. By moving Conley's $10.7 million salary and then re-signing him to a veteran minimum contract, Minnesota reduced its projected luxury tax bill. That too with a big margin. The Minnesota front office now gets - roster flexibility plus a trusted veteran to play.

On the court, Conley is expected to back up Donte DiVincenzo and provide good ball handling. Minnesota holds a 34-22 record and sits third in the Northwest Division. Anthony Edwards leads the team with 29.3 points per game, while Julius Randle and Rudy Gobert anchor both ends.
With playoff positioning on the line, the Timberwolves will add experience and depth for the rest of the season.
