One of the first things the Tennessee Titans did after hiring Robert Saleh as head coach was to bring in former New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll as their offensive coordinator. Daboll is renowned for how he developed Buffalo Bills ' quarterback Josh Allen , and while he didn't get much time with Jaxson Dart in New York, everyone is excited to see how he works with Cam Ward .
But Ward isn't the only player Daboll will be developing and coaching in 2026. In fact, the Titans targeted former Giants tight end Daniel Bellinger during free agency. Bellinger is a versatile tight end who can block, catch, and make plays. He is ready to take on whatever the Daboll throws at him, though.
"I can't answer exactly what Dabes has planned," said Bellinger . "But I know he's going to try and stretch the ball everywhere. He's going to try to be a dynamic playcaller like he's been, and I think we have a lot of talent and a lot of guys.
"For me personally, it's however they need me and however they want to use me, I'm ready for it."
In 2025, Bellinger appeared in 16 games. He recorded 19 receptions on 26 targets for 286 yards and two touchdowns, but his yards after the catch were well below what is expected from a tight end. This is something he plans to work on during the offseason and improve in 2026.
"I want to be more dynamic after the catch," he said. "I want to get better at that and continue to grow in that area. … (But) my job overall is to help us win. Whatever that takes, whatever they need me to do, I am here to do it."
Daboll has, historically, been known to use tight ends in a variety of ways. Typically, they are used as inline players and wideouts are targeted first, but Bellinger has shown that he is a capable pass catcher, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Daboll take advantage of that.
The biggest draw to having Bellinger on the field is his versatility. He can legitimately do just about anything that's asked of him, and he's prepared to do it. He also knows his biggest weakness, and he's set out to improve it. There isn't much more you can ask of any player, and if Bellinger succeeds in improving, the Titans will have a serious playmaker on their side.
