Joshua Williams hadn't played a defensive snap for the Tennessee Titans before Sunday, and yet, he never left the field in Indianapolis.
Two days after being activated from injured reserve , the veteran cornerback played all 83 defensive snaps with Alontae Taylor inactive. He helped Tennessee erase a 13-0 halftime deficit to dodge a 0-6 start with a 26-20 win over the Colts.
Williams wasn't alone.
Amani Hooker, back after missing the Houston game with a concussion, and Cor'Dale Flott also played every snap, according to PFF.
The Titans may have a secondary that's mostly set going forward.
Tony Pollard reclaims the lead back role
Pollard played 35-of 46-offensive snaps and handled 19 of the team's 22 runs, gaining 76 yards. A week earlier, Tyjae Spears owned a 34-30 snap advantage.
Spears, questionable with a knee injury , played 11 snaps and ran five routes, per PFF. With Pollard's future tied to the trade deadline , that split bears watching.
46 plays left little to spread around. Cam Ward went 11-of-22 for 102 yards, another quiet day for a struggling offense . Rookie Carnell Tate played 34 snaps, caught six passes for 70 yards and his first career touchdown, and earned an 82.3 grade on 23 routes, according to PFF. His full route tree is still filling out. Wan'Dale Robinson dipped from 47 snaps to 27.
Joshua Williams steps in for Alontae Taylor
Taylor played all 66 snaps against Houston. Williams was targeted five times and allowed two catches, per PFF.
Robert Saleh said Monday that Williams played well but has things to clean up , and on Taylor, said the staff will "make a decision that is best for the team moving forward."
Hooker posted a team-best 86.3 grade from PFF, added an interception, and finished with a career-high 13 tackles . Terrell Burgess fell from 40 snaps to 16 and Isaiah Oliver from 28 to eight. Flott, limited to 31 snaps by a chest injury last week, played all 83.
Up front, the Titans generated 25 pressures after managing nine against Houston, according to PFF. Jeffery Simmons had seven plus two of the six sacks, and Jermaine Johnson II, whose name keeps surfacing among contenders' trade targets , added two on 47 snaps.
