Former MLB star Gary Sheffield's son, Gary Sheffield Jr., recently shared his reasons for his dislike of Tommy Pham . The Chicago White Sox star was placed on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a left calf strain. The move is retroactive to September 3.
On Monday, Sheffield Jr. reacted to Pham's injury and said he "couldn't care less" about the White Sox star. When one X user asked for clarification, Sheffield Jr. revealed his reason for not caring about Pham.
"He accused a player of taking steroids last year and I told him he was a clown," Sheffield Jr. wrote. "He then threatened me and posted my home address on Instagram. He's a complete loser. Always has been."
In another reaction, Sheffield Jr. once again called Pham a "clown."
"I don't mind watching Tommy Pham get hurt he's a clown," Sheffield Jr. wrote.
Sheffield Jr. was referring to Pham's prior accusation against Addison Barger last year. Pham went to social media after the benches-clearing incident involving Toronto catcher Tyler Heineman on August 18, 2025. The then-Pittsburgh Pirates star responded to a fan having Barger's profile picture, accusing the Blue Jays star of using steroids. The post was later deleted.
Barger was suspended for 50 games in 2019 after testing positive for a prohibited stimulant. However, he received no subsequent discipline.
What Happened to White Sox Star Tommy Pham?
Tommy Pham was acquired by the White Sox from the Philadelphia Phillies in late August for cash. The White Sox selected his contract the following day, and he made his appearance for them against the Houston Astros on September 2. He entered as a pinch hitter and was grounded out to shortstop Jeremy Pena .
The next day, Pham was dealing with the calf issue. According to White Sox manager Will Venable , Pham suffered the injury while doing a defensive workout on Sunday.
"The thing with Tommy is whether he's in there every day or not, he's an extremely hard worker," Venable said . "He stays very active, does a lot of things to take care of himself. As he was working out on the field, he felt something in his calf that grabbed on him. It was significant enough to put him on IL."
No specific timeline has been given for Pham to return. But given that the injury placement is retroactive to September 3, Pham can return after 10 days, assuming his calf has healed.
In response to Pham's injured list placement, the White Sox recalled catcher Edgar Quero from Triple-A Charlotte.
