The Boston Red Sox made the decision this weekend to fire manager Alex Cora , as well as five other members of the coaching staff. It seemed to be a surprise to many, especially with the season still young. Nonetheless, the Red Sox must have a plan for the future, but at this point, it looks really cloudy.

That’s the vibe that Trevor Story is getting from the whole thing, and he tried to get an answer from the organization following the firings, according to Tim Healey of the Boston Globe.
“ Trevor Story said the Red Sox bosses’ explanation this morning was not sufficient and he intends to have more conversations with Craig Breslow today,” Healey wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Story said, “It’s up in the air what the true direction of the franchise is.”
With the Red Sox set to face the Baltimore Orioles today, Story is not in the lineup either.
“If this shows us anything, it’s we’re here to play baseball, and that’s it. We don’t make decisions. We don’t have any input on that,” Story said.

Craig Breslow laid out the plan for the Red Sox moving forward, and it looks like they’re looking forward to comperting for the rest of the season with the players they have on the team.
“By acting today, it gives us 135 games ahead of us, so we’ve got almost a full season’s worth of run to take advantage of this fresh start and ultimately to compete for a division and deep postseason run in the way that we talked about it and envisioned and believed heading into spring training,” Breslow said via ESPN.
“We believe in the group of players that we have in the clubhouse, down the hallway, and we believe that a new direction is warranted, new voices, and something that enables us to take a fresh start.”
