The path of a professional basketball player is rarely a straight line. For Will Tschetter, the journey has led from the snowy plains of Minnesota to the high-stakes hardwood of the Big Ten, and now, across the Pacific to the sun-drenched courts of Western Australia. Shortly after concluding a decorated five-year tenure with the University of Michigan Wolverines, Tschetter has officially signed with the Warwick Senators of the NBL1 West for the 2026 season.
A Legacy of Loyalty and Leadership

Before touching down in Perth, Tschetter established himself as one of the most beloved and respected figures in recent Michigan basketball history. Known for his infectious energy, vocal leadership, and "glue guy" mentality, he was a bridge between eras in Ann Arbor.
Tschetter's college career was defined by resilience. He was one of the few players to stay with the program through the coaching transition from Juwan Howard to Dusty May, serving as a vital veteran presence during the Wolverines' 2025-2026 resurgence. His final year in the "Maize and Blue" was the ultimate payoff: Michigan secured an outright Big Ten regular-season title and a Big Ten Tournament championship, culminating in a deep run that cemented his legacy as a winner.
The Move to the NBL1 West
The Warwick Senators' acquisition of Tschetter is a significant coup for the NBL1 West. Standing at 6-8 and weighing in at 230 lbs, Tschetter brings a modern "stretch-four" skill set to the Australian league. His ability to hit the three-ball—evidenced by his elite shooting splits during his college years—makes him a nightmare matchup for traditional post players.

The Senators are getting more than just a shooter, however. In the NBL1, a league known for its physicality and fast-paced style, Tschetter's motor and "on-court toughness" will be immediate assets. His background as an All-State football player in high school translates to a level of physicality and rebounding tenacity that the Senators will rely on to anchor their frontcourt.
Why the Senators?
The NBL1 has increasingly become a premier destination for high-level American college graduates looking to launch their professional careers. For Tschetter, the Warwick Senators offer a perfect platform to showcase his versatility. In a league where imports are expected to carry a heavy load, Tschetter will likely see a significant jump in usage compared to his role-player duties at Michigan.
Warwick fans can expect a player who:

• Stretches the Floor: His 51/49/88 shooting splits in college suggest he will be one of the most efficient perimeter threats in the league.
• Provides Defensive Versatility: He is quick enough to hedge on screens and strong enough to battle for post position.
• Boosts Team Culture: As a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and a natural leader, he is the type of player who elevates the locker room as much as the scoreboard.
A New Chapter
Transitioning from the 12,000-seat Crisler Center to the intimate, high-energy atmosphere of Australian regional basketball is a bold step. However, Tschetter is no stranger to international life; having spent two years of his childhood in Beijing, he possesses the global perspective necessary to thrive in a new country.
