The Tulane Green Wave have certainly fallen down in the American Conference standings with their loss to the UTSA Roadrunners .
Most conference championship goals that they have are down the drain. It's hard to fathom a team with two losses making the title game at this point.
But the Green Wave will certainly look to follow along with the race as they do have a major win over the Memphis Tigers who may be in the conversation towards the end of the year.
Now, Tulane is simply on the outside looking in to this point. Even if they win out, it will require a lot of other teams messing up in conference play in order to sniff the chance to make things right and win the championship.
The Green Wave have the Charlotte 49ers, Tulsa Golden Hurricanes, Rice Owls, North Texas Mean Green, and South Florida Bulls to finish out their conference slate.
Heading into Week 10, Tulane sits at the middle of the pack with a 3-4 overall record and a 1-2 start to conference play.
The Roadrunners now firmly sit atop the standings with a 7-1 overall record and a 4-0 start to conference play.
Then UNT and the Army Black Knights are below them with 5-2 overall records. The Mean Green are 3-0 in the American while the Black Knights have a 4-1 slate in conference play.
The Memphis Tigers are above the Green Wave still with a 6-2 overall record and a 3-1 record in the American, followed by the Florida Atlantic Owls (5-2, 2-1), and the UAB Blazers (4-3, 2-1).
Then there are a bunch of teams with 1-2 records in conference play.
South Florida leads that group off at 5-2, followed by the East Carolina Pirates and Green Wave who are both 3-4.
The Temple Owls are 2-5, followed by Tulane's next opponent, Charlotte, who are still sitting on their first win of the year over said Owls as the 49ers enjoyed a bye this week. They are 1-6 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.
The other teams with one American win are the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (4-4, 1-3) and the Navy Midshipmen (2-5, 1-4).
The lone team to this point without a win in league play are the Rice Owls (1-7, 0-4).
The Tigers beat the Pirates, the Black Knights beat the Golden Hurricanes, the FAU Owls beat Rice, and the Mean Green beat Navy.
Obviously, the Green Wave lost to UTSA, and now find themselves firmly in the middle of the pack as they look to get right against Charlotte.
