Former Georgia Bulldogs fan favorite punter Brett Thorson has made the Minnesota Vikings ' 53-man roster. Thorson is one of three undrafted players to make the Vikings' final roster. Thorson beat NFL veteran punter Johnny Hekker is Minnesota's punting competition.
Thorson along with his UGA teammate, wide receiver Dillon Bell, both made the Vikings despite serious competition. Bell's versatility is a big reason the Vikings included him on their roster. Bell can serve as a kick and punt returner and has experience as a third-down running back. Bell has a stocky build and will have to fight to get targets in the Minnesota offense, but making the team is an impressive accomplishment after going undrafted.
Throson and Bell's inclusion on the Vikings' roster means Minnesota has had a pair of undrafted Georgia players make the opening-day roster in consecutive seasons. Last year, both Chaz Chambliss and Ben Yurosek made Minnesota's roster.
Now, the Vikings have five Georgia players on their roster, which is the second most of any team in the NFL behind the Philadelphia Eagles.
