Indianapolis Colts' defensive end Tyquan Lewis is set to be a free agent this offseason. What will his next contract look like, and could he return?
Lewis appeared in 13 games this season, missing four due to injury.
Over the season, he played 324 snaps, logging 17 quarterback pressures and three sacks. Lewis added versatility to the defensive front, regularly lining up both inside and out.
However, among all defensive ends, he ranked 105th in PFF's pass rush win rate metric and 114th in run defense grade.
According to Spotrac , Lewis is projected to land a one-year deal in free agency worth $2.8 million.
Will the Colts re-sign Tyquan Lewis in free agency?
At this contract amount, the Colts could certainly bring Lewis back if they wanted to. However, this defensive end position as a whole -- outside of Laiatu Latu -- needs to be reshaped.
As GM Chris Ballard said in his season-ending press conference, the Colts need "more fuel" along the defensive front, referencing the pass rush.
As a collective unit, the Colts ranked 30th in ESPN's pass rush win rate metric. In short, particularly at defensive end, the Colts weren't disruptive enough.
When building out this position group in 2026, Ballard should look to go in a different direction with Lewis, Samson Ebukam , and Kwity Paye all free agents.
