UConn senior guard KK Arnold was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award 20-player watch list on Monday.
Arnold, who was named to the All-Big East preseason team , led UConn with 174 assists last year. She averaged 4.6 assists per game and shot a career-high 54 percent from the field. She also set UConn's single-season record for assist-to-turnover ratio (4.05).
The award, given out by the Naismith Hall of Fame in conjunction with the WBCA, honors the top point guard in the country and is named after Nancy Lieberman, a 1996 Hall of Famer. Candidates for the award must exhibit outstanding floor leadership, playmaking, and ball-handling skills.
Other UConn players who have won the Lieberman award in the past are Paige Bueckers (2021, '25), Moriah Jefferson (2015, '16), Renee Montgomery (2009), Diana Taurasi (2003, '04) and Sue Bird (2000, '01, '02).
Fans are encouraged to vote in each of the three rounds for the award starting Oct. 30. In February, the watch list will be narrowed to 10 players, then to five in March.
Arnold has 409 career assists and 828 career points. Last year, she was named to the All-Big East first team, the Big East all-defensive team and the Big East all-tournament team
