It's interesting when we look at teams in college basketball right now, even with classes starting up, and there are still as many questions as there are.
North Carolina, specifically, doesn't exactly find itself in a terrible spot roster-wise. Michael Malone doesn't seem to be bothering with the former professionals who are now coming back to the college basketball world, at least American ones, so that's a good thing as of now.

The ACC, along with the Big Ten and SEC, recently said they don't want anything to do with players who have signed professional contracts or played in professional games.
That may change, and we'll see a lot of these guys go to court over it, but for now, that seems to be the idea. It's the NCAA, so I wouldn't put anything past anybody in this moment and say that it's all set in stone.
However, it will affect others, including Seth Trimble and Louisville. Trimble, a fan favorite in Chapel Hill for what he did for the program for many years, is technically ineligible at the moment.
That should honestly benefit programs like North Carolina, and even Duke, who aren't doing the same type of things.

"While it won't affect Scheyer's roster, it could certainly impact the rosters of several of Duke's competitors. One of the big questions now will be whether Seth Trimble will be eligible to play for Louisville or not. While Trimble never signed his Exhibit 10 contract with the Utah Jazz, he did declare for the NBA Draft and never withdrew.
"The question for players like Trimble - and former Duke forward Mark Mitchell - will be whether it's fair to enforce that rule on them when they believed at the time they had no other options. When they declared for the draft, there was no avenue for them to return to play college basketball," John Mitchell wrote .
It's unfortunate that college basketball has gotten to this point, and the same goes for football, but this is truly the NCAA.
These kids understand that they can make a ton of money playing sports, and have done so through NIL, but it's getting to a point where something has to change, so I'm glad to see some conferences step up.
