Playing a role in helping the Jacksonville Jaguars' defense prepare each week is perhaps a player you would not expect -- practice squad quarterback Carter Bradley .
Leading the scout team offense each week, it's Bradley's job to mimic what the opponent does that week to help create more game-like scenarios for the Jaguars ' defense in practice.
Defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile has been thoroughly impressed with Bradley.
"He's a stud. He's awesome," Campanile said. "He's been so good for us in terms of giving us the exact look -- even the communication of things at the line of scrimmage. He takes it so seriously. He's got great leadership qualities at the line of scrimmage, and you can see him driving the scout guys.
Campanile continued, "He really does a great job of controlling the tempo of the practice, and giving us such an accurate look of, not only what the plays are gonna be, but the pre-snap process."
The Jaguars signed Bradley to the practice squad in late September. He is the son of former Jaguars' head coach Gus Bradley.
Bradley went undrafted in 2024 out of South Alabama. He has spent time with the Las Vegas Raiders and the San Francisco 49ers . Bradley has no career regular-season snaps.
In his final two college seasons, Bradley completed 65.8% of his passes and averaged 8.0 yards per pass with 47 touchdowns to 19 interceptions.
During the Jaguars' eight-game winning streak, the Jaguars' defense has been operating at a very high level.
This unit continues to generate turnovers at a high rate, and during the second half of the season, the pass rush production has picked up. Over the course of the entire year, the Jaguars had the NFL's best run defense as well.
In the previous eight games, Jacksonville has given up 14.5 points per game and has surrendered more than 20 points just once.
This week in practice, Bradley is likely tasked with replicating Josh Allen 's ability to extend plays outside of the pocket.
