- Updated look at Jaguars' salary cap space after latest maneuver
The Jacksonville Jaguars continue to rework existing contracts in an effort to create more salary cap space.
According to Over the Cap , the Jaguars restructured the contract of center Robert Hainsey by converting $5.03 million of his base salary in 2026 to a bonus. This move reduced his 2026 cap hit by $4.028 million.

In short, contract restructures take cap charges from the current year and push them to future years.
Along with the restructure, Jacksonville also added three void years to Hainsey's deal to help further reduce his cap hit in the current year.
Void years, meanwhile, are not an extension, but rather a bookkeeping measure that puts more years on the contract on paper. Hainsey is still set to be a free agent in 2028, at which point the cap charges from the void years will accelerate and come due as dead cap.
How much salary cap space do the Jaguars have?
This cap maneuver gives the Jaguars $4.13 million in salary cap space for the 2026 season. Compared to the rest of the NFL, this ranks as the 26th most.

We recently highlighted three ways that the Jaguars could create more cap room.
