Victor Boniface has sparked fresh speculation around his situation at Bayer Leverkusen after the Nigerian striker removed all of his Instagram posts, leaving only one, and shared a cryptic message on his Story.
The 25-year-old appeared to wipe his profile completely, leaving only one post and his account details visible, before posting an Instagram story centred on faith and uncertainty.
Dear God: I have no idea what's happening in my life right now, but I just want to say thank you for being with me in my highs and lows. My life hasn't always been easy, but one thing I know: You have never left my side. You are my everything.

The timing has naturally caught the attention of Leverkusen supporters. Boniface was recently left out of the club's Europa League squad, with new head coach Carles Martínez pointing to the striker's fitness as the reason for his omission.
Martínez explained that Boniface had previously struggled with his physical condition and had also dealt with knee problems. Although the striker had reportedly been training well in recent weeks, Leverkusen did not believe he was ready to cope with the demands of competing across three competitions.
He was in no condition some time ago. He had knee problems.
- Martínez said
While adding that Boniface had been training well for several weeks. The coach also admitted that he was now waiting to see how the forward would respond to being left out of the European squad.
The situation is particularly notable given Boniface's history with injuries.
His time at Die Werkself has been interrupted by several fitness setbacks, despite an outstanding start to life at the club. After joining from Union Saint-Gilloise in 2023, he immediately established himself as one of the Bundesliga's most dangerous forwards, finishing his debut league campaign with 14 goals and being named Bundesliga Rookie of the Season.
His career has since been disrupted by recurring fitness issues. A proposed move to AC Milan in 2025 collapsed after concerns were raised during his medical, while he subsequently spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Werder Bremen . His time there was once again hampered by injuries, restricting his availability and making it difficult to build the consistency he needed.
More recently, however, Boniface had begun to feature more prominently in Martínez's plans, raising hopes that this season could represent a route back to his best. Managing his minutes and workload carefully may ultimately be the most sensible approach as he looks to rebuild his fitness and confidence. Missing out on the Europa League is undoubtedly another setback, but it could also give Boniface more time to focus on his recovery and gradually work his way back into the team without the additional demands of European football. For a player who has spent so long trying to get back to his best, that may prove valuable - even if, from the outside, the situation inevitably raises more questions than answers.
None of this necessarily explains Boniface's latest social-media activity.
The striker has not publicly linked the Instagram changes or his message to his situation at Bayer, meaning any connection remains speculation.
For now, the most concrete information remains Leverkusen's decision to leave him out of their Europa League squad because of fitness concerns. But with Boniface once again at the centre of attention, his next move, both on and off the pitch, will be closely watched.
