SEATTLE — The Washington Huskies football team hasn't had good luck when it comes to injuries this season.
Toward the beginning of spring practices, the Huskies lost the assumptive starter at running back, third-year Jordan Washington, to a neck injury. Three more running backs, second-years Quaid Carr and Julian McMahan and fourth-year Jayden Limar, suffered injuries. All four running backs have a good chance of missing the rest of the season.

Another starter on the offense suffered an injury that cost him the majority of his 2026 season.
Sixth-year wide receiver Christian Moss injured his quad on the first play of the season in the team's 24-10 win against the Washington State Cougars on Sept. 6.
Moss transferred to the Huskies this offseason from Kennesaw State as a potential replacement for the team's leading receiver from last season, Denzel Boston (who was selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns ).
Before transferring to UW, Moss caught 45 passes for 689 yards and two touchdowns with the Owls.
The 6-foot-3 wide receiver was plagued with injuries throughout his college career. He originally played with the Virginia Tech Hokies and played there from 2021-22 before missing 2023 due to injury.

Moss was able to get a medical waiver from the NCAA that allowed him to play one more season.
Unfortunately for Moss, those injury troubles carried over the Pacific Northwest. He missed all of spring with a soft tissue injury and was knocked out of the Washignton State game with a quad injury that forced him to undergo surgery. If he does return, it won't be until the final pair of games of the season. However, it looks like it's trending towards Moss won't be able to make it back to the field in 2026.
Due to the NCAA's new "5-for-5" eligibility rules, Moss' last season of college ball would be this year. Redshirts and medical waivers are no longer eligible or applicable for college players under the new rules.
The NCAA's new rules apparently aren't stopping the team from pursuing avenues to have Moss return to the team in 2027.

"We are working on Christian Moss to see if we can regain a year for him as it looks as if he will have one play in his final year of college if we're not capable of regaining that year for him," UW head coach Jedd Fisch said in a weekly news conference Monday.
It's unclear with the NCAA's new rules how or if Moss would return to UW, but it's clear that the team isn't yet satisfied with his tenure in the Pacific Northwest ending with the one play.
