West Ham United loanee Niclas Fullkrug is scoring goals for fun at Werder Bremen.
The Hammers spent big money to bring the striker to the London Stadium in 2024, but it just never worked out.
The 33-year-old scored just three goals in his first 20 appearances for the Irons, playing nine times last season, failing to score a single goal.
He then failed on loan with AC Milan in the second half of last season, and it was clear that he was not going to play a role for Nuno Espirito Santo's side in the Championship, so he re-joined Werder Bremen on loan.
The Bundesliga outfit does not have a reported buy option in the loan agreement, but understandably already wants to seal his services permanently at the end of the season.
West Ham fans are going to ask even more questions, especially after what Fullkrug just did for Werder Bremen.
Niclas Fullkrug sets two new records for Werder Bremen amid 'unbelievable' form
Fullkrug scored in Werder Bremen's 2-0 win over Hoffenheim at the Weserstadion on Saturday, boosting his side up to fifth in the Bundesliga.
That's now 12 goals in 10 games for the former German international, who Jurgen Klopp has already been asked about recalling to the national team.
Sport BILD have highlighted that Fullkurg's goal was in his seventh game in a row, which is the first time a player has done that for Werder since the 1982-83 season.
The West Ham loanee also has nine Bundesliga goals in eight matches, which no player has ever done for Werder at this stage of the season.
It's been called "unbelievable" in Bremen.
SWR called Fullkrug "unstoppable" for his relentless forward pressure on Hoffenheim throughout the match.
But who is at fault for West Ham here?
When Niclas Fullkrug exit could be confirmed as West Ham set for complicated negotiations Who is to blame for Fullkrug failure at West Ham?
There are many West Ham fans who feel resentful towards Fullkrug, and rightly so.
The Hammers made a big investment to sign him from Borussia Dortmund in August of 2024, but he essentially repaid nothing of note for the E20 side.
But Fullkrug has admitted that he struggled to cope in England for several reasons, including the intensity of the Premier League.
No single person can be blamed for his failure at West Ham, even if the Hammers have made some terrible decisions in recent years.
His form for Werder Bremen proves that England was just never the right place for him to express his ability.
