The Cleveland Guardians recently promoted infielder Travis Bazzana to the big league roster. Bazzana is the Guardians’ top prospect and the No. 16 overall prospect in all of MLB. According to Zack Meisel of The Athletic, Bazzana is hitting seventh in his MLB debut and playing second base on Tuesday.
Bazzana’s potential has been a popular subject of discussion in recent years. Many fans were disappointed after Bazzana did not make the 2026 Opening Day roster. However, he is now receiving his opportunity.
The 2024 No. 1 overall MLB Draft pick hit .287/.422/.511 across 24 games played at Triple-A this season. He added two home runs, 11 doubles and two triples. The second baseman is clearly ready for the MLB level.
Cleveland will benefit from the boost. The ball club is just 4-6 over its last 10 games. The Guardians are now 15-15 overall and in second place in the American League Central standings, where they trail the Detroit Tigers by a half-game. Perhaps Bazzana’s presence will help get Cleveland back on track.
Tanner Bibee (0-3, 4.45 ERA) will get the start for the Guardians on Tuesday. Cleveland is hosting the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday night, as Nick Martinez (1-1, 2.10 ERA) will start for Tampa Bay. The Rays are 17-11 and in second place in the American League East this season.
First pitch for the Rays and Guardians game on Tuesday night is scheduled for 6:10 PM EST at Progressive Field in Cleveland. All eyes will be on star prospect Travis Bazzana as he looks to have a successful debut at the big league level.
