With a 6-5 win over the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday, the Chicago White Sox moved to 21-21 on the season. It has been a long time since the White Sox and their fans saw the franchise sit at .500.

To be exact, it has been 1,316 days , via Dylan Barnas of FutureSox. While Chicago still has a long way to go in 2026, their start to the season has been much more impressive than any other in recent history.
The White Sox finished their 2025 season with 60 wins. In 2024, they had just 41 total. To already be at 21 shows Chicago has been making positive strides. They have many of their former top prospects making the jump to the major league level to thank.
Of course, it'd be remiss to not at least first acknowledge rookie Munetaka Murakami . The 26-year-old rookie has taken MLB by storm with 15 home runs and 29 RBIs. The White Sox will rely on him to continue driving in runs.
He joined players like Colson Montgomery , Miguel Vargas and Chase Meidroth as key pieces in Chicago's lineup. Top prospect Sam Antonacci joined shortly after while players like Kyle Teel and Brooks Baldwin are on the injured list.

As it stands, the White Sox still rank just 19th in runs with 183. However, the pieces are there for continued success. Chicago will continue to build their lineup around their graduated prospects and potential free agency steals like Murakami.
On that same note, 21-21 may not seem like a record by write home about. But with how long Chicago has spent under the mark, it's a sign of growth.
