Wilfried Nancy has officially been named head coach of Scotland's Celtic FC , ending his three-year tenure with the Crew.
"I like to say when there is a good challenge in front of me ... you have to be excited by that," Nancy said in a video posted to Celtic's social media accounts. "And I am really excited to join this club, this historic club. I've been following this club for many years."
Celtic paid the Crew an undisclosed fee to hire Nancy, as the 48-year-old still had time remaining on his contract. Nancy's deal is for two-and-a-half years, and his first game with Celtic is expected to be against Heart FC on Dec. 7.
Along with Nancy, assistant coach Kwame Ampadu , fitness coach Jules Gueguen and video performance coach Maxime Chalier will be joining Celtic.
Nancy led the Crew to the 2023 MLS Cup title during his first season in Columbus, and the Leagues Cup title the following year. In 2024, Nancy was named MLS Coach of the Year.
"It's been a pleasure to work with Wilfried for three years as we were able to achieve many great things together," Crew general manager Issa Tall said in a statement. "Although we wish it was in future years, we recognize Wilfried's desire to test his skill set and philosophies outside of our league. We wish him the best at Celtic."
The Crew were eliminated in the first round of the MLS Cup playoffs this season, falling to FC Cincinnati in three games.
