Wolves fans have been talking about Kieran Trippier .
The Newcastle United and England star had announced before the season ended that he would be leaving St James' Park when his contract concludes on 30 June 2026.
News then came that he was in talks regarding a possible move to Molineux.
Then came widespread reporting that Kieran Trippier had agreed a two-year Wolves contract, with an option of a third year, with the signing set to be formally completed when the 35-year old returns from holiday.
Newcastle United fans disappointed that he wouldn't be signing on for another season but giving Kieran Trippier a great send off at the final home game against West Ham , thanking him for an outstanding four and a half years at St James' Park.
Wolves fans commenting via their Molineux Mix message board about Kieran Trippier:
'It's a great signing for us.
I am trusting the Geordie fans reaction 100x more than neutrals or Wolves fans. Geordie fans are saying he is a fantastic signing.
Also laughing at the West Ham fans reactions who say we have the league sewn up with the signings of Trippier and Andre!!'
'Absolutely amazed anyone is finding fault with this signing.
Proven quality and a captain at long last.'
'This is good news. Our new captain and still a quality player even at 35. Set piece expert as well'
'Hes going to be great for dead balls and freekicks ill put a bet on for him to score 5 goals minimum.'
'Club captain and well recognised as being a good leader at Newcastle .'
'Just been out with a few Newcastle fans. I said what do you think about Tripper coming to Wolves. They thought he was leaving at the end of tis season to retire !'
'Nobody would have been surprised if the hammers or Everton signed him.'
'Terrific signing and hopefully more to come. Start of a new era!'
'Great piece of business!!!'
'Amazing news very happy with this – just need a real manager now.'
'Now that is excellent news.'
'Wow! Nearly broke my ankle leaping out of my seat when just saw the yellow breaking news on Sky!!! LOL! Great signing!!'
'Captain?'
'Has to be.'
'Great signing. Welcome Captain Trippier!!'
"It's Kieran Tripper: IT'S IN!"
Those words were among the very peak of English football, when that free kick hit the top corner on July 11th 2018.
His leadership, his experience and his set piece abilities make this a fantastic signing.
Welcome Tripps, once this is done.'
'To be fair, that is an excellent signing. Maybe an Irwin for the new era?'
'Awesome business.
I give fosun and this football club a lot of grief for the way they've conducted themselves for a good few years now, but credit where credit is due.
A new contract for Andre and getting Trippier over the line is fantastic business.'
' John Ruddy has just posted he's leaving Newcastle. Saw a Newcastle fan pretty certain him and Trippier were coming… one to watch.'
'Ruddy was rumoured a while ago, hes 40 though.'
'I'd have him in the Tom King role, he is a big dressing room presence.'
'Desperate for it to happen before we get the inevitable 'Trippier signs for Everton' at the 11th hour.'
'I've nothing against Trippier i always thought he was a decent player tbh,but with signing Armstrong & getting angel its like Rob is building a squad of oompah lumpahs.'
'The guys 36, probably on massive wages too, if he comes in and does a job like Denis Irwin did then it could be a masterstroke but I have a bad feeling this is the first of the dads army signings we will make, good ol British players, kick and rush championship football at its finest'
'I've yet to hear a neutral fan sat this is a bad signing for Wolves. I don't know many Wolves fans who think it's a bad signing. Those who are moaning really need to think.'
'When you look at Trippiers career he seems to have really appreciated the man management side in managers more than other traits.
He's been very clear about how Dyche transformed his career with some honest talk and when he's praised other managers management has been the main focus, like when he said about Howe: "The best thing about Eddie Howe is his man management"
That's from a very interesting interview from 2 years ago by the way where he also mentions he wants to be a coach not a manager.
In other way Wolves are actually a logical choice.
A manager with good man management skills and a good pathway into coaching in due time.'
'I think Trippier does 'signal' that the club are 'intent' on bringing some experience and quality into the squad and not just a bunch of third-choice randos. It's a signing that gets your attention. Let's hope they follow it up.'
'Great signing…….. hopefully this will attract better players.'
'Leaders are what we have been lacking and Trippier will be a leader on and off the pitch.'
'Evidence?? Good experienced pro, but is he 'a leader'? Let's not get carried away.'
'He's quite highly regarded at Newcastle for being a leader ….'
'Yes hes 35 not 25
Played 2 thirds of the season for Newcastle in the Prem last season fgs
Yes he had a few niggling injuries otherwise he would have played most games for Newcastle.
Their fans are pretty much unanimous that we have a real bargain.'
'Some of the people on here need to give their heads a wobble. Same people who if Trippier would have signed for West Ham would be questioning our ambition and wish we would have signed him.
We have lacked a leader on the pitch all season, above anything else this is the biggest contribution he will have that positively impacts the team.'
