The Worcester Red Sox will have a special guest on hand for Opening Day.
Roger Clemens will throw out the ceremonial first pitch on March 27 against the Syracuse Mets at Polar Park. The pitch will be caught by Clemens' longtime teammate and catcher, Rich Gedman.
Gates open at 1 p.m with the pregame ceremonies beginning around 3:15 p.m.
A seven-time Cy Young Award winner, Clemens spent 13 seasons with the Boston Red Sox . He's one of five pitcher to amass 20 strikeouts in a nine-inning game.
Clemens is the only pitcher to accomplish that feat twice.
Three of Clemens' seven Cy Young Awards came while he was with the Red Sox . The right-hander also won the American League MVP in 1986.
The WooSox went 76-73 in 2025. They saw the promotions of Roman Anthony , Marcelo Mayer , Payton Tolle and Connelly Early last season. Anthony and Mayer are likely locks for Boston's Opening Day roster , while Tolle and Early will fight for a spot in the very crowded rotation.
