TheArizona Cardinalshave officially placed Jeremiyah Love on injured reserve.
Love suffered a high-ankle sprain early in the Cardinals' Week 8 win over the Dallas Cowboys. The injury, which was to his right ankle, occurred when Love's leg was trapped under a tackle. It was unrelated to his previous two ankle injuries this season, including the ankle sprain that held him out of the Cardinals' previous two games.

Love is expected to be out four to five weeks, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported. He is first eligible to be activated off injured reserve in Week 13, ahead of the Cardinals' Week 14 bye. Given that scheduling quirk, his return may be most likely in Week 15.
The Cardinals also placed wide receiver Kendrick Bourne on injured reserve. He is out for the season with a fractured tibia. They signed wide receiver Harrison Wallace III from the practice squad to the active roster in his place.
They have not yet made any corresponding moves at running back, leaving one open spot on the 53-man roster.
In Love's absence, though, the Cardinals will continue to turn to Tyler Allgeier and Bam Knight to lead their backfield. That tandem split the work nearly evenly when Love was out previously.

Knight, though, is currently in concussion protocol, so the Cardinals may be left with Allgeier to take on the majority of the workload in Week 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. Evan Hull is the other running back on their active roster, while Jerome Ford is on the practice squad.

In the bigger picture, it's yet another frustrating blow for Love, who has seldom been healthy. He returned in Week 1 from a preseason ankle sprain and played the first five weeks, but he suffered his second ankle sprain in Week 2 — to the other ankle. He then played through that injury for four weeks, before the pain worsened enough for the Cardinals to temporarily shut him down.
On the season, Love is averaging just 3.5 yards per carry, along with a mere 11 receptions for 36 yards. He has two touchdowns — one on the ground, one through the air.
All of it is a far cry from the difference-making presence that the Cardinals had hoped to acquire with the No. 3 overall pick.
Love's injuries, though, make it difficult to assess his performance. He has played over 50% of snaps in just one game, as he acclimated to the NFL and then managed the pain of his second ankle sprain.
