While the Astros are in a tight race for the AL West at this point, two players have really played well for Houston at the plate during September thus far, in the form of catcher Yainer Diaz and third baseman Isaac Paredes .
In this final month of the regular season, Diaz and Parades have done a great job from the plate and if they can continue playing well they could be key factors in helping the Astros to secure an AL West title.
So, let's take a look at the stats in September for Diaz and Parades to see what their production looks like.
Starting with Diaz, he has had 43 at-bats in September and in those opportunities he has tallied four runs, 16 hits, two home runs, five RBIs, and has recorded a batting average of .372.

When looking at the statistical performance from Diaz in September, it is clear that he has been a productive player for Houston, and if he can continue to stay in rhythm, he could be a massive difference maker for the Astros in the postseason.
Now shifting to Paredes, he has been quite productive as well as he has had 50 at-bats and in those chances he has totaled eight runs, 13 hits, four home runs, 13 RBIs, and recorded a batting average of .260.
After seeing the performance from Paredes at the plate it is also clear how productive he has been and if he can also continue to be effective from the plate, he may be able to help the Astros win some tight games in the postseason where every run counts.
With Diaz and Paredes having solid performances in September, it has been critical because so far this month, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and second baseman Jose Altuve have been inconsistent, and with that, the Astros needed players to step up.

Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, it will be crucial for Diaz and Paredes to be able to maintain their performance because the Astros will need as much consistency from the plate as possible to ensure they can put themselves in a good position to be able to clinch the AL West and make the postseason.
So as the Astros finish off the regular season, it will be interesting to see how Diaz and Paredes perform, and if they can continue their consistency, it is very possible that this team could clinch the AL West and get hot for a deep playoff run.
