The New York Yankees entered Wednesday’s game against the Boston Red Sox on a four-game winning streak. Early in the contest, infielder Amed Rosario hit a huge three-run blast over the Green Monster to give his team an early lead.
In the top of the first with two on base, Rosario, who is 30 years old, launched a change-up thrown right down the middle off Ranger Suarez to deep left field. The ball left the park , clearing the Green Monster, giving New York a 3-0 lead right at the beginning of the game.
That was Rosario’s fourth home run of the season. He’s been solid at the plate whenever his number has been called so far this year. The 10-year veteran entered Wednesday’s game with a .250 batting average and .302 OBP with 12 hits, three home runs, and nine RBIs.
The Yankees’ offense has picked up steam lately, which is a great sign for things to possibly come as the 2026 campaign progresses. With New York now up 4-0 through four innings, the club has managed to score four or more runs in five consecutive games. Even more impressive, the defense has not allowed a run in the past two games (will extend to three if the Yankees blank the Red Sox on Wednesday).
While there have been some concerns with how the Yankees have played to begin the season, New York is still in first place in the AL East. After sweeping the Kansas City Royals in the last series, the club seems on pace to achieve another sweep, this time over the Red Sox. That is, if they can maintain the lead while also earning a win over Boston on Thursday.
