The New York Giants have officially released linebacker Chris Board and punter Jamie Gillan , terminating their vested veteran contracts as part of the team's 2026 NFL free agency moves announced on Wednesday.
Board, who signed a two-year, $6 million deal with New York in 2025, primarily contributed on special teams during his brief tenure but was placed on injured reserve (IR) in September due to a chest injury.
The undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State had a solid career prior, accumulating 158 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and three passes defensed across stints with the Baltimore Ravens , Detroit Lions , and New England Patriots before joining the Giants.
Gillan, known as the "Scottish Hammer," had been with the Giants since 2022, following time with the Cleveland Browns . Over four seasons in New York, he punted 280 times with a 40.5-yard average and pinned 19 inside the 20-yard line.
Gillan's release follows the team's agreement to terms with former Ravens punter Jordan Stout , signaling an upgrade at the position amid efforts to bolster special teams.
