The New York Giants made a series of roster moves on Saturday ahead of their Week 5 matchup against the Washington Commanders.
Defensive lineman Chauncey Golston has been placed on injured reserve (IR) with a neck injury. He suffered the injury in the Giants' Week 4 win over the Arizona Cardinals and was ruled out for Sunday's game. He did not travel with the team.
The 28-year-old has been a key contributor along the defensive line this season, playing on both base downs and in pass-rush packages after signing a three-year deal with New York last offseason. His placement on IR is expected to create a larger role for Jihad Ward, whom the Giants signed last week off the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad.
The Giants also elevated wide receiver Dalen Cambre and outside linebacker Trace Ford from the practice squad.
This is Cambre's first elevation of the season. The undrafted free agent out of Louisiana adds depth at receiver and on special teams for a unit that has already lost Braxton Berrios to IR.
Ford's elevation is his second of the year, giving the front seven additional help after the season-ending injury to Brian Burns.
New York did not fill the open spot created by Golston's move to injured reserve, leaving an available roster spot heading into Sunday.
