The New York Jets acquired Jordan Meredith and a 2029 seventh-round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a 2027 sixth-round pick to serve as the backup center. Meredith won the starting center job in 2025 and started the first 11 games before suffering an ankle injury in Week 12 that cost him Week 13. He returned in Week 14 but only played special teams, sat out Week 15, and only played on special teams again in Week 16 before being shut down for the season ahead of Week 17.
Because the Raiders placed a right-of-first-refusal restricted free agent tender without tying it to draft-pick compensation, Meredith was scheduled to earn a non-guaranteed $3.52 million with the Jets in 2026. He was a restricted free agent because he had three years of accrued experience despite having been in the NFL since 2021. Accrued seasons are credited when a player is on injured reserve, the PUP list, or on the 53-man roster for at least six regular-season games, as time spent on the practice squad does not count.

According to Jason Fitzgerald of Over The Cap, the Jets have agreed to a renegotiated contract with Jordan Meredith . The deal is for one year and is worth $2 million, with $1.9 million guaranteed, a $650,000 signing bonus, and a $5,882 per-game active roster bonus, totaling $100,000. As a result, New York frees up $1.16 million in cap space in exchange for providing Meredith with roster security.
