Roberto De Zerbi would be willing to sanction another contract for Ben Davies at Tottenham because he remains a key figure in his squad, sources have told Football Insider.
Davies rarely features for Tottenham nowadays but carries a wealth of experience that few in their first-team squad can match.
The 33-year-old defender will soon be approaching the end of his contract once more in North London after penning a new one-year extension in June.
De Zerbi has handed him some opportunities so far in this campaign, with Davies scoring in each of his competitive appearances so far.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, De Zerbi is content to see Davies extend his stay at Tottenham because he values his leadership in the dressing room.
The Welshman has captained his country for the last few years and worn the Spurs' armband on several occasions in recent seasons.

De Zerbi clearly values Davies and is set to hand him more chances to feature for Spurs as the campaign progresses.
The Italian is open to giving him another one-year deal, yet Davies' own stance on his future is currently unknown.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast,I explained: "He's not just a key figure on the pitch, he is probably key off the pitch as well. He's one of the leaders in that squad.
"So, look, he'll be 34 come next season, but as long as he's still able to contribute to Roberto De Zerbi's side, I'm sure the manager will give serious consideration to extending Davies' stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium."

Davies' future beyond next summer is unclear, but he has made it obvious that he is enjoying his time playing under the current Tottenham manager.
Speaking in August about the Italian's impact last season, he said: "He's relentless in his pursuit of high-quality football. I think every single day on the training pitch he's demanding, but the way he wants to play, you need to work at it, because you know when it comes off, it's beautiful to watch. You sense he's building a real family feel to the group.
"We feel excited, especially with the signings we've brought in, and we've all got a clear goal, what's expected from us this year. It's important that we play well with the ball, that can help us defensively the more we have it, the less we'll have to defend."
